Answer: A mentor within an organization is a person who helps in providing proper guidance to the less-experienced or junior member of staff. It is analyzed that having mentor in an organization during the initial years of professional development is very much beneficial. The benefits that an individual achieves from a mentor include: Proper business skills: A good mentor within workplace helps in providing proper knowledge about different types of skills such as appropriate behavior, protocols as well as business practices (Law et al. 2014). Talent Development: A mentor is very much helpful in spotting unique talents in the freshers and helps in providing proper suggestions to them so that they can develop their skills as well as talents much more. Learn to be a good mentor: The working experience with a good mentor helps in offering proper training to the individuals, which further helps in enabling an individual to develop proper mentoring behaviors for becoming a good mentor for other individuals of the organization (DeCastro et al. 2013). Improved Performance: A proper mentor presence is very much significant as they can provide appropriate feedback or suggestions, which are quite helpful in improving various types of skills as well as experience, which will be further helpful in enhancing personal growth that ultimately leads towards improved performance. In this assignment, two activities are undertaken as a part of the professional career planning. The first activity illustrates about the ACS an event that is attended on 9th December at Melbourne Exhibition Centre. The event is considered very beneficial in progressing professional career of an individual. The event discusses about alternate career path in technology, provides knowledge about personal branding and self-promotion and assists in providing the importance of vendor certification or academic qualification, which is very much necessary for the professional career of an individual (Aguilar et al. 2014). The ACS events also reflect biography of certain peoples that helps in elaborating the advantages of professional career planning of those individuals. The event discusses the biography of Rabecca Martin, Henry Lousey and Felicity Watson to reflect that how they professional career planning helps them to become successful in professional career. The second activity helps in elaborating about the job interview that is undertaken in Melbourne. The Job interview was generally undertaken in one of the well-known IT organization named WebCentral. The interview is considered advantageous in progressing the professional career of an individual as an individual gains different types of knowledge after attending an interview (Wolgemuth et al. 2015). The individual can acquire problem knowledge as well as information about proper representation in an IT sector. After attending the interview, they gain also gain knowledge about their negativities, which can be improved for developing the professional career of the individual in the coming future. The interview helps in proving proper information about the various tools as well as techniques utilized in an IT sector. All this information is very much important in progressing as well as improving their professional career.
